Cheeky with Stephen Hawking

'Stephen Hawking is obviously a very extraordinary story, and by the time we filmed him he could only move one muscle in his body, which is the muscle here on his cheek. And as he moves this muscle, he controls his voice box. But this is one of the most intelligent people in Britain who is studying the universe and yet his body has collapsed to the point where he can now only move his cheek. It is kind of odd meeting him. He is a hero obviously and yet he does not speak very much because it is such an effort to speak so he is a kind of captive audience. So I just talked to him for about an hour. I was a bit drunk when I met him, so I was just talking away and occasionally he would say, “Yes.” And so I thought he seemed to be enjoying it and so I kept on chatting.'
